About PlantWikki

PlantWikki connects a botanical encyclopedia with live nursery inventory, so you can research a plant and immediately see who has it, in what size, at what price, near you or shipped.

Where our botanical data comes from

• Names & taxonomy: Plants of the World Online and the World Checklist of Vascular Plants (Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew), and the GBIF Backbone Taxonomy (CC BY 4.0). Each plant has one accepted name; synonyms and common names point to it.
• Native ranges: POWO distribution data.
• Photos: nursery photos (owned by the nursery), our own photography, and openly licensed images (CC0, CC BY, CC BY-SA) with attribution. We do not use non-commercial or unlicensed photos.
• Growing information: written and reviewed by our editors, with sources listed on each page. Pages show a review notice until verified.
• Toxicity: only recorded where documented (e.g. the ASPCA toxic and non-toxic plant lists). “Not documented” does not mean safe.

Marketplace listings

Nurseries manage their own listings. We verify businesses, monitor inventory freshness, and remove listings that are reported as inaccurate. PlantWikki does not currently process payments — you buy directly from the nursery.

Affiliate links

Some pages show a small “Growing supplies” box with links to Amazon. As an Amazon Associate, PlantWikki earns from qualifying purchases. It doesn't change what you pay, and it never affects which nurseries or plants we show. We don't load Amazon scripts or trackers on our pages; Amazon only sees you if you click a link.

Storefronts built from nursery websites

Some storefronts marked Unconfirmed were built from the plant list a nursery publishes on its own website, so shoppers can find local stock. Our reader identifies itself as PlantWikkiBot, follows robots.txt (including Crawl-delay and opt-outs for AI tools), reads only public product lists, and re-checks them about once a week. Nurseries can claim their storefront for free, correct it, or have it removed at any time from the storefront's “Claim” link. To keep the reader off your site entirely, add User-agent: PlantWikkiBot / Disallow: / to your robots.txt.
